The power of listening: Let’s be honest, you are the expert of your body. Without listening and paying attention to your experience, journey, and pain your recovery is limited and short lasting.
-
Our injury(s) do not define us but affect how we live our daily life from activities of daily living to recreational participation in the community. It is not only important to address the injured site but also look at anything related to its function. For instance: if we are experiencing elbow pain how is the shoulder, neck or hand doing that could affect the elbow.
-
Education is power! You cannot under-estimate the importance of knowledge. Many clients have improved their symptoms by simply understanding how various aspects such as lifestyle, diet, urinary and bowel hygiene can affect the pelvic floor. Understanding the anatomy and physiology of the pelvic floor, posture education as well as knowing how to deal with chronic pain symptoms are vital to your recovery.
-
Manual Therapy is a hands-on approach used to treat neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions. It is integral to any treatment plan as it promotes optimal movement, function and pain relief. It involves various techniques depending on the bodies need such as joint mobilization & manipulation, transverse friction, passive and active range of motion, traction and trigger point release to name a few.
-
Acupuncture (2000+ year old method) helps manage pain and inflammation, normalize nervous system function and stimulate the body’s healing pathways (harmonizing yun & yang). Dry needling helps release the knot in muscle fibers relieving any muscle pain, tension or spasms.
-
An individualized exercise program including stretching, strengthening, proper posture and breathing techniques are essential for overall recovery. It is imperative to regain control of the imbalances that is causing your pain. A progressive movement plan is important so you can return to your life without fearing re-injury.
